FAADA and VEGANOK: An Alliance for the Future of Animals, the Planet, and Human Health

The Spanish foundation FAADA and VEGANOK join forces to promote a more ethical and sustainable lifestyle internationally

Rome | Barcelona, 11 February 2025VEGANOK, the most authoritative ethical certification mark for vegan products in Europe, and FAADA, the Foundation for Information and Action in Defence of Animals, have announced a strategic partnership to promote a more ethical and sustainable market. This alliance strengthens the shared vision of both organisations in supporting animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and more conscious consumption.

According to data compiled by the Osservatorio VEGANOK, in 2022, Italy and Spain experienced significant growth in the plant-based food sector, with increases of 9% and 4%, respectively. This trend not only highlights the increasing interest of Italian and Spanish consumers in plant-based alternatives but also positions Italy and Spain among the top European markets for vegan product consumption, ranking third and fourth, respectively.

Additionally, cities like Barcelona and Milan are widely recognised as particularly vegan-friendly, thanks to the high number of restaurants, specialised shops, and businesses catering to the growing demand for vegan products.

A new opportunity for the Italian, Spanish, and European markets

This agreement marks a crucial step for the Italian market, strengthening export opportunities for companies already certified by VEGANOK. These businesses will benefit from an enhanced local network in Spain and across Europe.

For the Spanish market, the partnership will enable local businesses to obtain VEGANOK certification directly through a local representative, positioning themselves as leaders in the 100% plant-based sector. This will help them meet increasing consumer demand while reinforcing their commitment to sustainability and animal welfare.

At a European level, this collaboration will offer consumers greater guarantees by enhancing the transparency and reliability of certified products, contributing to a more sustainable future for animals, the environment, and human health.

VEGANOK: The leading vegan certification in Europe

Starting this month, FAADA will be VEGANOK’s official partner in Spain, supporting local companies in the certification process. The VEGANOK mark identifies 100% plant-based products, free from animal-derived ingredients and produced according to strict ethical standards, ensuring transparent and cruelty-free choices for consumers

With over 20 years of experience and more than 17,000 certified products spanning food, cosmetics, household hygiene, and fashion, VEGANOK is the benchmark for those who choose ethical and animal-friendly consumption.

The collaboration with FAADA ensures consistency and uniformity in certification across Spain, facilitating the entry of Italian businesses into this market through the launch of the localised website VEGANOK.ES. Companies already certified by VEGANOK will benefit from a stronger presence in the Spanish market, increasing their growth opportunities in this rapidly expanding sector.

This collaboration with FAADA is a crucial step for VEGANOK in consolidating our presence in Europe. We are thrilled to join forces with an organisation that shares our values and commitment to a world free from animal exploitation. Together, we can make VEGANOK certification even more accessible, offering consumers and businesses an increasingly strong ethical guarantee.” – Sauro Martella, Founder of VEGANOK

FAADA: A key advocate for animal rights in Spain

Since 2004, FAADA has been dedicated to protecting and defending animals through legal, social, and educational initiatives. Through this partnership, the organisation is committed to facilitating the VEGANOK certification process for Spanish businesses, promoting a more ethical and responsible market.

The collaboration between VEGANOK and FAADA represents a significant advancement for the entire European vegan sector, helping to create a strong network among businesses, institutions, and organisations committed to sustainability. This synergy will foster new growth opportunities and joint projects between Italy and Spain, paving the way for initiatives that promote a future free from animal exploitation.

We are proud to become VEGANOK’s official partner in Spain and to contribute to the spread of a certification that serves as a true benchmark for conscious consumption. This alliance allows us to strengthen our commitment to animal protection and provide Spanish companies with a concrete opportunity to stand out in the market with an ethical and transparent certification.” – Rafi Moreno, FAADA Spokesperson

Shared values for a greater impact

The partnership between VEGANOK and FAADA is built on shared values of ethics, sustainability, and respect for animals—principles that have always guided both organisations. This collaboration reinforces VEGANOK’s position as the most authoritative vegan certification standard in Europe and solidifies FAADA as a key advocate for animal rights in Spain.

Working together allows for a greater impact, raising awareness among an increasing number of businesses and consumers. Promoting a culture of respect, transparency, and social responsibility is key to driving lasting positive change on an international scale.
