Fitness goes vegan: VEGANOK Award to Brunaccioni at VeganFest 2018

On Saturday, September 8th, the VEGANOK Award will be presented to athletes Massimo Brunaccioni and Eleonora Ambroggi. This exclusive award recognizes the year's standout vegan personalities.

VeganFest is the ultimate gathering for all things vegan, spanning the realms of medicine, nutrition, cuisine, entertainment, and cruelty-free industry. The highlight of this year’s festival will be the prestigious VEGANOK Award, honoring prominent figures in the vegan community. World champion in Natural Bodybuilding Massimo Brunaccioni and female champion Eleonora Ambroggi will receive their awards at Italy’s most famous vegan festival. Brunaccioni, who recently secured his second consecutive world title in Natural Bodybuilding in the United States, is a key member of the AssoVegan sports committee, a VEGANOK certified athlete, the creator of VeganMuscle website, and coach of the VeganMuscle Team.

“Vegan diets are often under scrutiny, especially concerning their applicability in sports and bodybuilding. We’ve all heard the myths about needing animal protein to build muscle and that a meat-free diet won’t cut it. However, this time, the evidence speaks for itself!” said Brunaccioni after winning the WNBF World Championships in Los Angeles on April 22nd. His words shed light on the work of the AssoVegan Sports Committee and the Vegan Body team—the first Italian professional group dedicated to vegan sports and nutrition (also featured in the Fitness Area at the Lucca VeganFest). Alberto Rusciano, Maurizio Falasconi, and Dr. Giulia Pedà are among its members. Maurizio Falasconi, the national coordinator of the sports committee for the Associazione Vegani Italiani Onlus and co-founder of Vegan Body, will present the awards to both athletes.

This event is a perfect chance to meet these two trailblazers, who, despite their accomplishments, are not as well-known as their counterparts in more mainstream sports—likely due to persistent doubts about veganism in sports. The AssoVegan Sports Committee and Vegan Body are committed to dispelling these myths by promoting the feasibility and benefits of veganism in competitive sports, as endorsed by numerous athletes and nutritionists. The achievements of Brunaccioni and Ambroggi prove that vegan fitness is achievable and that a vegan diet can enhance athletic performance. They effectively challenge the misconception that intense sports require animal products, demonstrating that a plant-based diet rich in essential nutrients is viable and optimal for athletes.

Be sure not to miss the award ceremony for Massimo Brunaccioni and Eleonora Ambroggi on Saturday, September 8th at 6:00 PM!
