VeganOK Animal Guardian Award 2015

This year, special recognitions will be awarded during VeganFest 2015 at SANA in Bologna from September 12 to 15.
On Saturday, September 12, at about 2:00 PM, the prestigious VeganOK Animal Guardian Award will be presented to the “International Animal Protection League Onlus of Kyiv” foundation for their tireless and courageous efforts in defense of the stray animals of Kyiv. The award will be accepted by the President and Vice President of the foundation, Andrea Cisternino and Vlada Shaluko.
Then, on Sunday, September 13 at 2:30 PM, the VeganOK Animal Guardian Award 2015 will be given to Jo-Anne McArthur, a Canadian photojournalist and activist, for her photographic essay “Noi Animali –We Animals”, published by Safarà Editore.
Jo-Anne has witnessed the horrors of the meat industry and intensive farming firsthand, and she has chosen to document these through her photographs to try to debunk the myth that animals are on this earth for our pleasure and use. Finally, on Monday, September 14, Dr Melanie Joy will be honored with the VeganOK Animal Guardian Award 2015 for her commitment to promoting the principles of ethical vegan choices. Dr. Joy currently teaches psychology and sociology at the University of Massachusetts Boston. A respected author, she lectures worldwide on topics related to social justice, with a particular focus on animal rights.
